laying insulation |
What a manic week it has been so many people and materials being delivered.
Rather than trying to do day by day we have just added some photos.
Stayed until gone 8.30 last night trying to get insulation laid ready for the underfloor heating to go in today. Unfortunately we did not finish due to many set backs. Having laid over half of it we had to remove some in order to put some blocks under the wooden structure which were missing! A real pain - then it started pouring down and we had rain coming in through the boards on the roof. Then it was dark and we had inadequate lights, we were hungry and tired and so decided to call it a night.

Under floor heating being laid |
By 7.30 am this morning, the construction team had arrived, the under floor heating team and then the crane. It was just like DIY S.O.S with tradesmen everywhere - utter chaos. Dave was being pulled in all directions for this and that.
Underfloor people (Heat and Screed) were none too happy that we had not finished the insulation. The garden room hadn't even been started and we were trying to lay insulation while they were working overhead!
The rain water harvester that had been delivered on Monday was craned over - with Dave's guidance - a first for him. Bear in mind the driver cannot see over the house and so has to be guided by intercom.
This will now sit over the back until we get chance to dig the drains and the huge hole for the "onion" to sit in.

Dave Giving instructions to crane driver |
Dave had to also guide the crane driver with pallets of roof tiles which were not exactly tightly bound so unfortunately a few of them cracked when they were lifted.
The construction team have pretty much finished the front elevation and will concentrate on the garden room tomorrow.
Roofers arrive Monday and hopefully we will be water tight at least by about Wednesday. We just hope and pray we don't get torrential rain as this will ruin the newly laid flooring which is being poured tomorrow. All systems go here. We now have a couple of hours clearing up to do before we can go back to flat for dinner.

Sounds mad. Hope for some dry days early next week. You have been spoilt with the driest September on record.
