Friday 3rd October
Men arrived early this morning to finish off floor pipes ready for the screed to be laid. Then they waited for a couple of hours (4 men sitting around) until screed arrived. This is the end of the first load.
Had a wait of about an hour and then second load arrived. In the meantime the erection team were working above their heads trying to finish off roof panels.
Utter chaos again for a little while.
The screed is self levelling and so didn't take long.
They advised us to seal off doors and windows to avoid leaves and rubbish blowing (after this had happened in the garden room!)
As rain was forecast we then spent until really late putting down tarpaulins on the mezzanine floor and loft areas.
Saturday 4th October
Arrived to find huge great puddles seeped through from upstairs onto the newly laid floor which was not good!
Spent the whole morning mopping up and then relaying the tarpaulins in case it rained again.
Sunday was dry thankfully.
As all the doors and windows were sealed and the screed was still not set this was the only way in. Had to climb up the scaffold tower to the top level and then jump in through the upstairs round window. (I know it looks square but it is supposed to be round - and will be rectified at some point) - another blunder on Framewise's part.
Monday 6th October
More rain - puddles everywhere! Went to Argos to buy a wet/dry vacuum to soak up water and then Dave and I worked in tandem - him sucking up water and me mopping with towels and cloths.
Erection team arrived early again to do some finishing off.
Roofers arrived and started counter battening.
By lunch time they had the first of the roof battens on and some felt which helped.
The erection team have now left us until Saturday when they will come and do some snagging jobs inside.
Tuesday 7th October
Late morning - more rain this time it was pouring in so we had to find every bucket we could and place them in strategic points.
Spent most of the afternoon mopping up yet again!
Roofers worked in rain and have reached front now. What they have done is put up every third row of batten just so they could get felt on for us.
