Erecting a garage

Monday  20th October

Men came to put in roof lights. This of course meant taking out lots of roof tiles and sawing off lots of battens.  It transpired they had never put these conservation windows in before and it took them a whole day to put in one of the frames.  This then had to be covered with tarpaulin because - guess what - yep it started to rain! So they had gone by about 3.30.

Christine and Martin arrived to help with the erection of the garage, but before we could start Dave had to put down the sole plate down.  Christine and I started clearing up bits of wood - just for a change - and then got a couple of pallets and strengthened them with some OSB.  Howard and Mervyn also arrived to help.

We have had to leave the shed on the concrete slab as this houses all the electrical bits.  We cleared the slab of most of the panels ready to start tomorrow.

These are the roof trusses which we moved one by one off the slab to create space.

Wednesday 21st October
By the end of the day we had put all the panels up and so celebrated by going up the fish and chip shop.
 Friday 31st October
Howard and Mervyn can be seen here running back and forth helping to erect the roof trusses.
We had one small platform and the other we cobbled together with some trestles and an old workmate.

By Wednesday we had erected these panels - this is the rear of the garage

This is all we can see from cabin now!

by end of Friday
