Up on the roof (sounds like a possible song title)

Monday 13th October
Roofers arrived early and worked in pouring rain to get more battens on.  Had to order another 20 packs (looks like Marley did the maths wrong). Dave and I had AGM to attend as I am minutes secretary it was hard not to attend!
More rain in afternoon but managed to get some more clearing done and by the end of the day they had some roof tiles on.
Dave and I spent another hour lifting up roof tiles ready for tomorrow.  Once again it was me who struggled to lift a whole pack so we had to split them and carry them up a few at a time.  We discovered the best way was for Dave to pass them up from the bottom and I stood on the scaffold boards and stacked them.  Then it was time to drive back to the flat and cook tea so cheated and ran into Iceland two minutes before they shut and bought micro wave dinners and then heated them and an apple pie from the freezer that I made a few weeks ago.

Tuesday 14th October
Roof battens and sand arrived fairly early. Helped carry them all round the back and as I couldn't carry a whole pack split them and just carried around 3 at a time.  All of the packs had been taken round and split open ready to lift onto the roof and then....Alan discovered he had ordered the wrong ones!  So not only did we have to carry them all back, but they had to be re-bundled into tens and tied up.  Ah well, gave us a bit of exercise.
Popped in Shrewsbury to pick up some roof ventilations which we didn't realise we would need, and Alan cracked on with putting on tiles and Kevin cracked on with putting on soffit boards.  Its all go here you know.
Peter from Framewise came and we gave him a list of snagging points.  Someone will come on Monday to start these, but we will have to put in all the roof insulation which might take a minute or two.

By end of day they had started on the front - partly because they are now waiting for the correct battens to come.  Can you spot two rows of bullnose tiles?   We decided not to have them on the back  where they won't be seen most of the time, but instead have another couple of rows near the top along the straight part to offset it. (for anyone interested we have got Redland plain Tudor brown tiles)
