Still shifting and sifting

Tuesday 19th August
Another long day shifting and sifting with the help of Christine.
About 6pm Dave the digger man came to chat about what we wanted him to do drain-wise to be started on Thursday.  We felt it was important to get these dug before the scaffold is erected.
2 hours later we were feeling very deflated.  He told us we are doing it all wrong and we shouldn't have started landscaping the back as this will all have to be dug up again for the drains.
We however think the drains can be dug around the bits we have landscaped.

Wednesday 20th August
Another wet morning.  Christine came again to help shift and sift soil.
Had e-mail from the digger man to say he thought we couldn't work with us and we had different ideas of what was needed.  Not now able to get the drains dug before the scaffold goes up which means waiting until October when hopefully the scaffold will come down.  Will be the wrong time of year to be digging but still looking for another digger man, and of course all the pipes are being delivered tomorrow which means we have to store them somewhere.  The site is getting quite full up now with materials.
After lunch Marion and Dave (they are over visiting from Spain) came to help.
Between us we shifted a huge pile of soil and also a stack of insulation.

Thursday 21st August
Marion and Dave and Christine came in the morning and got stuck in moving soil.
By mid afternoon it was apparent that we are not going to use all the soil and so phone local nursery and they will come and take some on Tuesday.  Waited for delivery of soil pipes and after phoning company told they would not now be delivered until Tuesday, so decided to pack up and join Christine and Martin on their boat which is moored in Nantwich for dinner.  Good evening.

Friday 22nd August
Took morning off and joined Marion and Dave and Christine and Martin in Nantwich for coffee.  Had to say farewell to Marion and Dave who were going back to Kent.
Afternoon, after a rain storm, turned out quite nice so just for a change we shifted some more soil.
This time it was a pile under the damson trees that had not been moved already, and having decided we would have enough, we moved it onto the driveway for Wayne to come and collect on Tuesday.

Saturday 23rd August
Another wet wet morning so unable to do much on the plot.  Decided it was time to do some paperwork and tidy the cabin a bit.
