Insulation and brickwork

Thursday 19th November
Lorry load of insulation arrived from Framewise
Dave was waiting for tyre to be fixed and so delivery man and I manhandled them off the lorry into a heap on the driveway near the front door.  I started to split the packs so I could lift them into the house and then thankfully Dave arrived and between us we got them all into the house.  This is just an edge of the pile!
Started Monday afternoon putting some up in the roof before we can even contemplating plastering.

Friday 28th November
Skip forward a week - the last week has been a bit of a blur but as you can see the walls of the cottage are now taking shape.  Tuesday was a bad day as it was so cold the water pipe was frozen as was the sand - so not much building in the morning but they moved bricks round ready.
However we have had the plant room plastered so that we can think about putting the distribution board up and starting to run cables around the cottage.
This is a view from the back of the cottage.  As you can see the ground is still very muddy but work has progressed.  The roof of the garden room is moving on. Seems to have taken ages but that's because Alan was away and then he started helping with the brick work.

View of the front of the cottage.

View down the side of the cottage.  Sacking is put over the bricks overnight to protect cement.

Christine and I put insulation in garage and then covered it all with silver breather membrane partly to cover over the insulation and partly to add more insulation.

Photo of Christine helping tack up all the silver paper.  And yes, we did wear masks.  We have also now used up all the garage insulation we bought to put some in the roof of the garage.  I am sure they will be loads left from the cottage to finish off.
And Dave and Martin - well they have been busy installing distribution board, back boxes and cables ready - and loads of other jobs,  All in all, a productive week.
Had another delivery of roof tiles - some still needed for the cottage and the rest are for the garage.  Can't believe we will be doing all this in the cold, cold, weather but needs must!
