Tuesday 11th November
Bio disc being lifted into hole.
The bio disc is like septic tank.
Martin came to help and we managed to lift some of the osb board on the roof which we managed to do from the inside of the garage.
We are putting boards on one side ready for the solar panels.
We did lots of other jobs as well - including taking a delivery of 72 sheets of plasterboard and 10 sheets of osb which we foolishly put in first and then had to move stack to get them out!
Bio disc having sand and cement put round it to keep it buried.
Cement being poured in. We nicked a barrel or two to lay a slab for the air source heater. We had previously got it all laid ready just to lay concrete on top. So another small job done.
Thursday 13th November
Battled with wind to try and get rest of osb board up onto the roof of the garage to get it watertight but had to abandon.
Saturday 15th November
weather cloudy but not wet and not too windy so Dave risked life and limb to get felt onto the roof.
We were both standing precariously perched on a ladder on top of trestles to be able to reach but job. done. Dave then just fly battened to keep felt in place. Then we put lots of bricks (about 400) out in piles ready for the bricklayer on Monday.
Exhausted went back to flat!
Monday 17th November
Started digging trench for rest of electric cable that had to be buried. Digger wasn't able to get in around the back of the shed and toilet so had to be done by hand. Hard work - dug up all sorts of bottles and rubbish. Didn't finish as day light faded.
Dave, Martin and I put up plasterboard in the plant room. We have done this early so that it can be skimmed before we try and put in the air source heater. All these things are dependent on having electric and having the walls skimmed means we can also get the distribution up on the wall ready. Dug another couple of feet for electric cable - not easy.
Greg and Alan came to start brickwork.
Another view of the plant room.
Wednesday 19th November
Dave and Martin wired up distribution board and hooked up temporary light (still to be connected) in the house so that we can stay a bit later. It gets dark by 4.15 and we are not able to do much beyond that time.
In between times the digger man came to collect his digger and finished off trench for me. Took him minutes!!! So cable buried now and all back filled.
Wednesday 19th November
This is what the garden room looks like now. Of course we had to take all the plastic off and then staple it on the inside. All these little jobs take up time and energy.
Ooh, that's good. With brick it is starting to look like a real house rather than lots of plastic sheeting!
